I’ve been toying with the idea of starting a motherhood & lifestyle blog for a while now and finally got round to actually doing it. I have no idea if anyone will ever actually read this, but even if it is just for me and my daughter to look back on in years to come, it’ll be worth it.
I’m Pamela, wife to my lovely husband Folarin and mummy to little Victoria (we call her Vicky most of the time though).
I am originally from Germany but moved to London in 2012 on a work secondment that was only meant to last for 2.5 years, met my now husband and got stuck. The things you do for love, hey!? 😉No, honestly, I love London life! Even though I do miss my family and friends in Germany I feel very much at home here now.
My husband is from Nigeria but has been in England ever since attending boarding school here at the age of eight. Some of his siblings live in London too which is lovely as I don’t have any family here, but the rest of his family still lives in Nigeria. We are lucky though that his parents have a place in London as well and are coming over to the UK regularly which is so nice for Vicky so she regularly gets to spend some time with her grandparents.
I never thought I would start a Lifestyle blog but if I have learnt one thing in my life it’s that things rarely go how you plan them and it’s worth being open for new possibilities that come your way.
Ever since I was little I have been a very creative person and loved crafting but then somehow ended up in a very corporate career, so I mainly used my creative side in my free time doing lots of painting, sewing and other DIY. Ever since becoming a mummy though I found that I didn’t really have the time or patience for that anymore. All my time and energy was consumed by my little bundle of joy. Two weeks before Vicky was born I started my Instagram account on which I wanted to document our life together for family and friends and whilst I was on maternity leave. Taking cute photos for my account became somewhat of a hobby that grew and grew. Goodness, the amount of hours I spent on Instagram in the middle of the night in an attempt to keep me awake whilst feeding my baby is unreal.😉 I love the opportunity to engage with other likeminded people, share experiences and tips and tricks from life with children plus I have made some virtual friendships with other mummies, some of which have even become friends in real life.
I absolutely loved my year at home with Vicky, seeing her develop from a baby to a toddler, making lots of memories together but was ready to return to work full time when she turned one. I am a procurement director, so am basically shopping for a living, which sounds more glamorous than it really is, but I love it! But I also love my newly discovered passion for blogging – a hobby that I can combine so well with being a mummy. So here I am now, starting a “proper” Lifestyle blog of my own (still feels quite surreal to me though) so I can share some more reviews and other bits and pieces from my life as a working mum in a bit more detail than an Instagram caption would allow me to do.
Anyways, enough of me now! Thanks again for popping round and I hope you’ll like my little corner of the internet. And do let me know if there are any specific topics you’d like me to write a post about. 😊
