Homemade Bounty Bars

Homemade Bounty Bars

This super easy recipe for homemade Bounty Bars is so good! Shop bought Bounty bars are full of sugar and these homemade ones taste very similar to the original Bounty bars in my opinion and only have a fraction of the sugar content. The filling is maybe not quite as dense but other than that it is a close match and a healthy-ish treat for the whole family. (Also check out my recipe for Banana Sushi for another healty-ish treat)

Bounty Bar recipe

What you need (makes about 9 bars)

100g of desiccated coconut

100ml coconut milk

30g coconut oil

1 tbsp coconut sugar or normal sugar / honey, whatever your preference

100 g dark chocolate

Method

Bounty bar filling
  1. Put desiccated coconut, coconut milk, coconut oil (soft) and your choice of sweetener in a bowl and kneed to form a doughy mixture
  2. Pour the mixture into a square / rectangular dish at roughly 1.5cm thickness, press is down slightly and pop into the fridge for about an hour
  3. Take out of the fridge and cut the mixture into bars and pop the dish into the freezer for a few hours (or over night)
  4. Melt the chocolate and cover your bars in chocolate all around. You’ll have to be pretty quick with this as the chocolate will set really fast due to the bars being frozen. Put the chocolate covered bars on a baking paper lined tray to dry
  5. Store in the fridge and enjoy
